This is one of the coolest products I have seen on the market. It is a stand with skis that has a brace on it
to hang a power auger off of. The auger sits in the brace and you push auger buddy just like you would push
a lawn mower.

2008 Ice Fishing Season is Over for Me

It is March 25th here in New York and it is still colder than hell. It looks like we may have ice for at leat another
two weeks. Still, I am done for the year as chasing smelt for the next couple of weeks will replace the desire to ice fish.
Not matter how much you love it, enough is enough.

Caution on Spring Ice

It is always this time of year when long days of the sun beating down on the ice combined with rapidly changing
weather can do a number on the ice. No matter how cold it gets at night you really have to be careful out there
this time of year. A recent warm spell here in New York left a lot of slush on the ice. That slush rotted the ice
in many places as it did not stay warm long enough to melt all of it. The ice was speckled with large black spots
that a spud would go through with one strike. Now we have more snow on top of it and trying to navigate
out there would be like walking through a mine field.

A few years ago, my good friend Steve told me, "Rob, you are smart enough to make a million dollars.
The problem is you are so good natured that you could probably never do it." I have always kept that
in the back of my mind and I am proud to say that he is correct. I just hope he is not 100% correct

I own Radio Shack on a sled. Believe me. I got as many wires and battery snaps laying around and I do lines
and lures. After I started using electronics, I could not imagine fishing without them. I generally use my
Vexilar when fishing deep water for perch and walleyes. The camera is reserved mainly for bluegills.

Walleyes Are Not Always on the Bottom

"You gotta be right on the bottom to catch walleyes", some would claim. Yet, I do not always find this to be the case.
In fact, I find that they often hit better when you suspend your bait a few feet off the bottom. Would a walleye
only take bait fish if it was on the bottom?
